임신되지 않게 하는 것을 피임 (避姙)이라 하고 임신되지 않게 하는 방법을 피임방법이라고 한다.
경구용 피임약, 주사용 피임약, 콘돔, 기초체온, 다이아프램, 살정제, 자궁내 장치, 정관수술, 난관수술, 질외 사정, 금기 등 약물, 기구, 장치, 수술, 성교방법 등으로 피임을 할 수 있다.
요즘은 여성만 쓰는 피임약도 있고 남성만 쓰는 피임약도 있다. 여성이 쓰는 콘돔도 있고 남성이 쓰는 콘돔도 있고 응급 피임약도 있다.

Oral contraceptives, injectable contraceptives, condoms, basal body temperature, diaphragms, spermicides, intrauterine devices, vasectomy, fallopian tubes, extravaginal ejaculation, contraindications, etc..

Nowadays, there are contraceptives for women only and some for men only.
