Too big fetus or too small fetus 태아가 너무 클 때나 너무 작을 때
If a pregnant woman smokes, the fetus cannot grow and develop normally in the womb. When an infection occurs in the fetus or the placenta function is abnormal, the fetus cannot grow and develop normally.
The fetus may be small when the fetus cannot grow and develop normally due to some disease in the mother’s body.
There may be fewer fetuses due to multiple pregnancies, etc. If the fetus is small, the fetal heart rate, the amount of amniotic fluid, the fetus’s movements, and the fetus’s breathing may be less than normal.
A Doppler Ultrasound test of the umbilical aorta can detect less blood flow than normal. Treat it according to the cause.
Fetuses born to pregnant women with diabetes may be abnormally larger. However, babies born to taller, taller mothers are normally larger.
You can check the size of the fetus with the ultrasound test, but the accuracy of the ultrasound test is about 10%. When a pregnant woman has diabetes and the fetus is large, it is common to give birth at 40 weeks of pregnancy.
And when the fetus is abnormally large compared to the size of the mother’s pelvis, it is difficult to deliver natural delivery. Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
