Pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and HELLP syndrome 자간 전증, 자간증과 HELLP 증후군
Preeclampsia or eclampsia leads to hypertension Preeclampsia, eclampsia, and HELLP syndrome are a type of pregnancy complication and belong to pregnancy toxicosis.
The severity of pregnancy toxicosis may be mild. It can appear very seriously, dangerous to life. The cause is still unknown.
These days, preeclampsia or eclampsia is less common than before because it prevents preeclampsia or eclampsia well in advance.
Preeclampsia or eclampsia does not occur in the early stages of pregnancy, but mainly occurs in the second half of pregnancy.
Symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment vary depending on the severity of this disease. Preeclampsia causes weight gain, swelling in the hands and feet, high blood pressure, and proteinuria.
Symptoms such as severe headache and dizziness occur, blurred vision, strange spots appearing in the field of vision, and pain in the upper abdomen.
It occurs in 6 to 8% of all pregnant women and is more pronounced in pregnant women over 40 years of age, pregnant women in teens, and pregnant women with diseases such as diabetes or urinary tract infections.
There is no special treatment for preeclampsia, and induction delivery is the treatment when it is close to the scheduled delivery date.
Preeclampsia is also accompanied by headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, vision disorders, bleeding, swelling, high blood pressure, and proteinuria. Preeclampsia with these symptoms is treated as an emergency delivery. Preeclampsia can develop into eclampsia.
Eclampsia is a much more severe pregnancy addiction than preeclampsia, which is called eclampsia. Eclampsia can lead to high blood pressure and convulsive coma. With this disease, the life of the pregnant woman and the fetus can be at risk. When you have severe eclampsia, oxygen breathing treatment, drug convulsion treatment, and emergency delivery are the methods of treatment. In addition to preeclampsia or eclampsia, there is a pregnancy toxicosis called HELLP syndrome.
The disease name of HELLP syndrome is from the first letter of Hemolysis (H), the English word for hemolysis, the first letter of Elevated liver enzyme (ELl), the English word for liver enzyme increase, and the first letter of lower platelets (LP), which means platelet reduction It is the name of the disease that came out.
With HELLP syndrome, high blood pressure, proteinuria, and swelling occur, along with decreased platelets, increased liver enzymes, hemolysis, and symptoms such as headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, and sometimes severe headache, visual disturbance, and bleeding.
In the United States, preeclampsia occurs in 6 to 8% of pregnancies, and 2 to 12% of them develop HELLP syndrome.
If you have preeclampsia, you can prevent HELLP syndrome from developing by appropriate treatment early and treat HELLP syndrome by delivery. Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
