Common symptoms and signs during early pregnancy

Common symptoms and signs during early pregnancy

  • When you become pregnant, changes can occur mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially in a pregnant woman.
  • Knowing why such changes are occurring and how to cope with them will be of great help to the pregnant woman herself as well as the family of her fetus.
  • Menstruation no longer occurs during pregnancy.
  • Significant changes occur in the uterus and ovaries.
  • Human chorionic gonadotropin and female hormones are secreted. In addition, one egg cell and one sperm cell meet, and a single point-sized fertilized egg grows more and more to become a fetus, and the fetus grows to be born as a baby.
  • During pregnancy, many changes occur naturally in the body, emotions, and physiology of the pregnant woman.
  • It is a diagram and picture made to make it easy to understand the menstruation, menstrual cycle, hormone secretion, changes in body temperature, and changes in the size of the cervix according to the menstrual cycle.
  • The menstrual cycle of a woman who is not pregnant, changes in the uterine wall according to the menstrual cycle, follicle growth and ovulation, formation of the corpus luteum, changes in the blood concentration of female hormones according to the menstrual cycle, changes in female body temperature according to menstruation and ovulation, Changes in the size of the cervix according to the menstrual cycle (example of menstruation of a woman with a menstrual cycle of 28 days)

  • When you are pregnant, you no longer have regular menstruation and the inner wall of the uterus thickens (refer to the red arrow in the picture). Source-Pregnancy in Anatomical Illustrations, Carnation Healthcare Services, Los Angeles, CA And from pregnancy to newborn baby care, the author has modified, added or subtracted. After the fertilized egg is implanted on the inner wall of the uterus, it is not clear what is in the body and mind of the pregnant woman herself, but it is possible to recognize that significant changes have occurred.
  • From pregnancy to childbirth, mental and physical changes occur in many ways in all pregnant women.
  • Among the many signs and symptoms of pregnancy that can appear in the early stages of pregnancy, the most obvious one is not menstruation. However, among non-pregnant women who suffer from certain diseases, when they are doing heavy physical exercise, when they are too nervous, when they have an imaginary pregnancy, when they suddenly change their usual lifestyle to another lifestyle, and many other things.
  • For this reason, you may skip your menstruation once or twice, or you may not continue to do so for several months.
  • Because of this, skipping one or two menstruation does not necessarily mean that you are pregnant. When pregnant, in addition to no longer menstruation, it is common for pregnant women to change their emotions.
  • Sometimes it’s more nervous than usual and your mind can’t concentrate well. And the breasts start to grow and can be a little tingly and painful.
  • Your body may be slightly swollen. It reacts sensitively to certain odors, sometimes trying to vomit or vomiting while feeling upset. You may urinate frequently, and you may itch often.
  • You can get tired easily for no apparent reason. Some pregnant women may have few symptoms of pregnancy other than not menstruating in the first trimester, while others may have only one or two of the symptoms of pregnancy that may occur in the first trimester. As such, the symptoms of pregnancy appearing in the early stages of pregnancy vary greatly depending on the pregnant woman.
  • Many husbands say that the mental and physical changes described above have never occurred to their wives.
  • Most of these changes are caused by hormonal changes during pregnancy.
  • The size of a fertilized egg a week old is about 1mm. The fertilized egg separates into two types of cells.
  • One type of cell continues to divide and becomes a group of cells that will become a fetus, while the other type of cells continues to divide and becomes the placenta.
  • A placenta is formed between the inner wall of the uterus and the fetus. The placenta secretes a hormone called Human Chorionic gonadotropin (HCG).
  • Chorionic gonadotropin is called HCG in English. HCG secreted from the placenta enters the pregnant woman’s blood and comes out a little in the urine. At this time, if there is HCG in the urine, it means that you are pregnant, and if there is no HCG, it means that you are not pregnant. Testing to see if there is HCG in the urine can be easily done at home with a test strip.
  • Of course, a blood test can be used to diagnose whether or not HCG is in the pregnant woman’s blood. (Already explained, but explained again here.) Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
