Excessive salivation during pregnancy 임신 중 침이 많이 나온다
During the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, some pregnant women may have abnormally excessive salivation in the mouth.
This symptom of a lot of saliva secretion is called Ptyalism or Excessive saliva production. In particular, a pregnant woman with morning sickness may secrete more saliva, and the symptoms of vomiting may worsen as the saliva is secreted excessively.
Sometimes a lot of salivae is secreted, but the taste of saliva is very bitter. During pregnancy, this symptom occurs because the salivary glands, such as parotid glands, become enlarged under the influence of hormones.
Also, the face around the ear may appear swollen due to the enlarged parotid line.
Eating less carbohydrate-based foods or foods made from milk or eggs, and proper fruit consumption can help reduce symptoms.
Chewing gum, eating mint, eating a little bit of food, rinsing your mouth with a minty-smelling mouth odor sap, or brushing with a minty-smelling toothpaste can help reduce saliva.
It’s hard to understand, but you can do less by sipping a little sour lemon or a quick candy with lemon. Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
