During pregnancy, uterine bleeding can be normal due to various causes.
And it can cause abnormal uterine bleeding.
Very little uterine bleeding can occur when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus on the first or second day of pregnancy.
Hormonal effects can cause normal small amounts of uterine bleeding during the 4th to 8th weeks of pregnancy.
In addition, a small amount of bleeding may occur due to a scar on the cervix.
After 4 to 8 weeks of pregnancy, uterine bleeding may occur due to miscarriage, placenta previa, placenta adhesion, premature placenta detachment, and uterine rupture. Depending on the cause, it is diagnosed and treated. Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
