If you have a stomachache, it is easier to determine which abdominal disorder you are suffering from if you tell the doctor that your stomach hurts instead of just telling the doctor that your stomach hurts.
The upper part of the abdomen is uncomfortable and soreness can occur in pregnant women during pregnancy. This pregnancy symptom is called Heartburn in English. Because the English word for Heartburn contains the word Heart, the symptom of Heartburn can be mistaken for any close symptom related to the heart. However, Heartburn is not a symptom directly related to the heart, but one of the symptoms of pregnancy-related to the digestive system. It can occur at any time during pregnancy, but it can be more common later in pregnancy.
Heartburn can occur in pregnant women, and it can occur in people of all ages, men and women who are not pregnant.
Heartburn may be caused by slowing the peristalsis of the stomach due to the influence of a female hormone called progesterone during pregnancy, and there is a theory that it is caused by pressing the gastrointestinal tract into a large uterus due to pregnancy. In addition, stomach acid in the stomach or food mixed with gastric acid passes through the nasal passage between the lower part of the esophagus and the stomach and flows back into the esophagus, which can cause pain in the upper abdomen.
Heartburn can occur at any time of the day, but it usually occurs immediately after a meal. Heartburn treatment is almost the same as treating nausea or vomiting caused by morning sickness. In other words, don’t eat too much food at a time, but divide the total amount of food you can eat a day into 5-6 minutes and divide it into 5-6 times instead of eating 3 times a day, and heartburn symptoms can improve.
Fatty foods, greasy foods, spicy, salty and irritating foods should not be eaten as much as possible.
Foods that you usually hate, and foods that do not fit your constitution should not be eaten as much as possible during pregnancy.
If your upper abdomen hurts while sleeping, you can change your body position from one side to another, lay your upper body a little higher with a pillow or blanket, or lay your upper body 5cm higher than your lower body to make your upper abdomen less painful. If you lie down right after eating, the acid in your stomach can more easily flow back into your esophagus, which can lead to more Heartburn symptoms.
The symptoms of epigastric soreness should not be treated with soda or the like without a doctor’s instructions. If the upper abdomen continues to be sore or is severe, seek medical attention from a doctor. Pregnant women should not take drugs other than those prescribed by their doctor.
Following your doctor’s instructions, you can treat with antacids after eating, and eating a little bit of food, such as crackers, can reduce Heartburn symptoms. Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
