Sexual intercourse after childbirth 산후 성교
It is difficult to determine for sure when you can start having sexual intercourse after childbirth.
Depending on the delivery method, pregnancy complications, the degree of postpartum recovery, and the life of each couple, the time at which sexual intercourse can begin after childbirth may differ.
After 3-4 weeks of natural delivery, the fatigue from pregnancy and childbirth is almost recovered, the wounds of the perineum that were naturally ruptured during the perineal incision surgery or delivery were healed, the stitches were all removed, and the thread does not come out anymore.
From this point on, you can have intercourse as usual. However, it’s a good idea to wait until you get your first postpartum checkup. If you can’t have sexual intercourse by inserting a male penis into your vagina, you can have oral sex any time after childbirth, if your health permits.
Mutual masturbation can also replace typical sexual intercourse.
After delivery, before you leave the hospital, you can ask your doctor or nurse when it is okay to start sexual intercourse.
For some time after delivery, the secretion of the hormones estrogen and progesterone drops sharply, which can lead to vaginal dryness. In this case, you can use a lubricant for sexual intercourse.
Maintaining the sexual position in a comfortable position between the couple is also a personal sexual intercourse technique after delivery.
After delivery, you can become pregnant without the first menstruation.
Whether you are planning not to become pregnant again immediately, or if you are planning to have children by adjusting your child’s foot, you should use proper contraception and start sexual intercourse after delivery before starting sexual intercourse. Copyright ⓒ 2014 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP
