이렇게 신생아를 병원에서 집으로 데리고 갈 때나, 신생아나 영유아들을 승용차에 태우고 어디를 데리고 갈 때는 법으로 정한 안전의자에 태우고 운전해야 한다. 산모와 신생아가 퇴원해서 승용차로 집에 가는 도중에 교통 사고가 날 때나, 무슨 일로 승용차가 갑자기 멈출 때 차에 탄 사람은 누구나 부상을 입을 수 있다. 그런 부상을 입지 않도록 하기 위해서이다.

승용차를 타고 어디를 갈 때도 어린이는 나이에 따라 승용차 안전의자에 눕히든지 앉히고, 큰 아이는 안전벨트를 매야 한다.

엄마 아빠의 품에 신생아를 안고 승용차로 어디를 가다가 교통사고나 무슨 일로 차가 갑자기 멈출 때 아무리 건장하고 잘 챙기는 엄마, 아빠라도 품에 안았던 신생아를 안전하게 잘 보호해 줄 수 없다.

어른용 승용차 안전벨트나 큰 아이용 승용차 안전벨트는 신생아에게는 적절치 않다. 신생아에게 적절치 않은 승용차 안전벨트에 신생아를 눕히고 운전하다가 교통사고가 나거나 차가 갑자기 멈출 때 신생아를 안전히 보호할 수 없다. 신생아를 승용차에 태우고 운전할 때는 법으로 규정한 승용차 안전의자를 꼭 사용해야 한다. 이것은 법이다.

그 나라의 교통안전법규에 준해서 만든 신생아용 승용차 안전의자를 구입해야 한다. 승용차의 뒤 중간 좌석에 신생아용 승용차 안전의자를 고정해 놓고 그 승용차 안전의자에 아기를 눕힌 후, 승용차 안전의자를 안전벨트로 맨 후 운전해야 한다. 신생아용 승용차 안전의자의 뒤가 승용차의 앞을 향하도록 하고 신생아는 승용차의 뒤쪽을 향해 눕힌다.
